Geriatric Medical Center Introduction

A geriatrics special centre soon to be authorized by the government, and to be established by co-payment of the government, local government, and Jeonbuk National University Hospital, to guarantee elderly people health and prepare for an aging society. We provide much-needed medical services (treatment and rehabilitation) to elderly patients with acute or sub-acute diseases to promote "he prolonged healthy life of local residents" We also promote professional studies regarding geriatric diseases to improve the quality of the geriatric health care services, and help anti-aging and life extension through standard education for patients, guardians, and the public, and special education for health workers. The elderly health care center is expected to lead in the implementation of public health policy for local elderly patients, with elderly care facilities, senior welfare facilities, and public health centers in Jeonbuk. We will intervene on behalf of elderly people to reduce morbidity and mortality, family burden, and death, promoting a prolonged healthy and good quality life.

The objectives

• Active treatment and promotion of social reintegration for elderly patients with acute or subacute diseases
• Construction of ONE-STOP medical service through multidisciplinary practice
• Studies for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention methods for geriatric diseases
• Health improvement through the education for the public and medical personnel, and promotion of the quality of health care services for the elderly

The responsibilities of the department of emergency medicine

• Indoor and outside education of first aid and CPR
• Medical support for (mass) disaster
• Emergency care education for local health care workers
• Prehospital emergency care guidance and supervision and 119 emergency medical technician specialization training
